The lecture explores how theories of crime and deviance and social theories are creations of their time. It focuses on the historical, cultural, and contextual roots of critical criminology, which are often ignored, and considers how they relate to current critical criminology.
The lecture draws on criminology, sociology, classics, history, philosophy, ancient literature, and politics.
