Professional Background
I was born on March 3, 1978 in Krnov. I live in Žďár nad Sázavou, where I have completed secondary education in 1996. I then studied sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University Prague and I finished my studies in 2001 by defending my master’s thesis titled Methodology of Research on Victimization: Limits and Possibilities of Standardized Interview When Interviewing  Victims of Criminal Behavior. My subsequent PhD studies of sociology at the Faculty of Arts were completed when I defended my dissertation Cognitive Approaches in Methodology of Research Surveys: Instant Validation Method.

In 2001, I have started to work as a methodologist for the Public Opinion Research Centre at the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences and, between 2005 and 2013, I was the Head of the Centre. Since 2013, I am a member of the Centre (and a researcher of the Institute) and I am the project executor of following projects: Understanding of Intergroup Differences in the Discursive Processes (Czech Science Foundation, 2013-2015) and Changes of Working Life Quality (2014-2015, Technological Agency of the Czech Republic).

During my PhD studies, I started to lecture at the Faculty of Arts. From 2005 to 2007, I was also partially employed as an Assistant at the Department of Sociology, and since 2007 as an Assistant Professor. In 2013, I have become a full time employee of the Faculty of Arts and the Head of the Department of Sociology. I regularly teach the following courses: Research Practice, Sociology of Public Opinion, Quality of Queries in Survey Research and Data File Handling.

In my research, I focus on the methodology of sociological research, especially on the issue of survey research, standardized queries and their cognitive aspects. My research interests further include the theoretical and methodological aspects of the researching public opinion, the research methodology of the quality of the working life, and sociological analysis of the beer and hospitality services in the Czech society. The results of my work are usually presented at conferences and seminars, and published in academic publications.

Professional Activities
Among others, I am a member of the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR), the Czech Sociological Association, the Standing Working Group for Social Sciences of the Accreditation Committee of the Czech Republic, and the editorial board of the Czech Sociological Review.
